Tom Cruise Is Taylor Lautner's Action Idol, 'Abduction' Star Says

Taylor Lautner is ready to abduct the title of Hollywood's resident action star when "Abduction" hits theaters September 23, but he didn't get there without a little inspiration from some of the genre's greatest actors.

When MTV caught up with the "Twilight Saga" star at San Diego Comic-Con this week, he revealed that he did more than admire the top action actors: He studied them. Considering "Abduction" is being described along the lines of the "Bourne" movies and "Minority Report," it makes sense that Tom Cruise and Matt Damon are among Lautner's biggest role models.

"I studied film with John Singleton while preparing for the movie, and I chose Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford; we just went down the list," Lautner explained. "It would be an honor to have a tenth the career that those guys have."

Tom Cruise to star in thriller 'One Shot

Top Gun' star Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be starring in Christopher McQuarrie-directed thriller 'One Shot'.

Cruise, 49, will be starring in the film, which has been adapted from the 2005 Lee Child novel of the same name.

"Tom will play the rugged Jack Reacher in the movie 'One Shot'," Contactmusic quoted a post on his official blog as saying.

In the blog, an explanation of the plot was given as follows: "Jack travels to Indiana to investigate the murder of five people gunned down by a sniper.

"The police easily track and capture the lone gunman, James Barr, but the seemingly airtight case is anything but when Reacher gets involved."

McQuarrie is also co-writer of Cruise's next film, 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol', which will see him reprise his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt and will be released in December.

Tom Cruise to star in movie based on Lee Child books

Tom Cruise is slated to portray Jack Reacher in the big screen adaptation of Lee Child's best sellers. The books document the life of Reacher, an ex-military officer who became a drifter, Deadline reports.

Expect Cruise to undergo quite the transformation when shooting begins. According to the New York Times, Reacher is 6 foot 5 and weighs 250. While fans of One Shot have voiced their concerns over the casting, Child is supportive of Cruise bringing his character to life.

“Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way,” Child said.

One Shot tells the story of Reacher as he looks into the murder of five people at the hands of a sniper.

The Christopher McQuarrie-directed film is scheduled to start filming this fall. McQuarrie's writing credits include The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie and the forthcoming installment of the Mission Impossible series.

Tom Cruise’s Eye Of The Tiger

“No, I’m the survivor,” bellowed Tom Cruise at his surprise 49th birthday bash in which teeny kids threatened to steal all the attention. Running around with their faces painted, Tom was determined not to be upstaged and by the brats. “Make me the head ThunderCat,” he demanded of the on-site make-up artist, before turning to the kids, insisting, “That’s right kiddos, I’m Lion-O now – Lord of the ThunderCats with my mighty Sword of Omens. Obey me.” At this point Suri, with head in hands, despaired, “First Scientology now this? Purrlease papa, stop being such a pussy!”

Tom Cruise ‘kicked out of bed for snoring’

Tom Cruise, 49, is the latest star to create such a room when he converted a guest room at the 30 million dollar mansion he shares with his wife Katie Holmes.

The spaces are both padded and atmospherically-controlled in order to reduce the effects of snoring, and once the door is locked the user can not be heard from the outside.

Regular snoring affects around 25% of people, is more prevalent in men. The chances of a person snoring also increase the older that person gets.

Tom Cruise is far from alone in his snoring affliction; other famous snorers from history include
Napoleon Bonaparte, Winston Churchill and Queen Victoria, while David Arquette “shook walls” with his snoring according to his ex-wife Courtney Cox, and Judith Sheindlin, more commonly known as Judge Judy, also installed such a room recently.
