Rosamund Pike selected for Tom Cruise film to be shot in Pittsburgh Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11230/1167997-60-0.stm?cmpid=entertainm

Rosamund Pike will star opposite Tom Cruise in "One Shot," the crime thriller that likely will be shot in Pittsburgh this fall and winter. Ms. Pike had been in contention with Hayley Atwell and Alexa Davalos.

Deadline.com and The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Ms. Pike, who did a screen test Saturday for director Christopher McQuarrie, emerged as the leading lady. She will play Helen Rodin, a young attorney hired to defend a man accused in the shooting deaths of five people.

Mr. Cruise doesn't match the physical description of Jack Reacher, a footloose ex-military investigator who doubts the official version of events, but Ms. Pike is a good fit. Author Lee Child writes in the novel that inspired the movie:

"She was probably no more than 30, quite tall, lightly built. Slim, in an athletic sort of way. Not anorexic. Either she ran or played soccer or had been very lucky with her metabolism.

"She had long blond hair and her father's blue eyes. There was intelligence behind them."

Ms. Pike recently appeared in "Barney's Version," "Made in Dagenham" and "An Education."

The book also has small but choice roles for other women, assuming they make the cinematic cut: A woman from Reacher's past who is a brigadier general, a local TV reporter drawn into the investigation and the sister of the accused sniper.

The novel is set in a quiet city in the state of Indiana although Paramount has had no comment on whether Pittsburgh would play itself or cheat for another city and when filming might take place.

Tom Cruise - Electronic Dance Star Com Truise Hopes Tom Cruise Likes His Music

Tom Cruise has been given a new musical boost - an aspiring electronic star has adopted his name for a new space-age project.

New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley is hoping to hit the world's dancefloor charts as Com Truise, a robotic astronaut who performs music inspired in part by the movie star's films Risky Business and Top Gun.

And it won't be long before he's on Cruise's radar - his debut album, Galactic Melt, is gaining rave reviews.

Haley's manager Matt Cutler only hopes the film star doesn't object to the link.

He tells WENN, "We haven't had any kind of response from Tom Cruise or his people and, to be honest, I don't think he has a strong case against us using Com Truise. That said, I still cringe every time I see a tweet linking Truise to Tom Cruise.

"The music is not offensive in any way but if we have to change the name in the future, then we'll have to change the name."

Truise, who is billed as "the world's first synthetic/robotic astronaut... who becomes one with his newfound cosmos, like Pinocchio becoming a real boy," is set to tour North America later this month (Aug11).

The trek begins at Solar Culture in Arizona on 30 April (11).

Viola Davis made up lie about Tom Cruise standing on Oscar dress

Viola Davis made up a lie about Tom Cruise stepping on the designer dress she wore to the 2009 Academy Awards in a bid to boost bids for the item in an online auction.

The Doubt star dazzled on the red carpet in a gold Reem Acra halter neck gown at the Oscars and decided to sell off the dress to raise money for charity.

After struggling to draw attention to the lot when she first posted it on eBay.com, the actress resorted to telling tales to boost the appeal of the outfit.

She says: "I tried to sell it on eBay. I said after (the Oscars) I can't wear it anymore, I can't just stick it in the closet. So I said, let me get a little money out of this. I was thinking, 'I could give it to charity and all that. I could get $3,000 out of this'.

"It wouldn't sell and I had my little agent pushing it and everything... She said, 'Tell me something about the dress.' I was like, 'I wore it at the Academy Awards!' So I made something up. I said, 'Tom Cruise stepped on it!'"

However, even the little white lie about the Mission: Impossible superstar couldn't shift the dress - Davis admits she got "nothing" for the outfit, even after making up the tale.
